EARLY ORTHODONTICS
AT WHAT AGE SHOULD A CHILD FIRST VISIT AN ORTHODONTIST?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children should have a screening with an orthodontist by age 7. This is the age where we have started to lose some baby teeth, we have gotten some new permanent ones, and our jaws are growing to accommodate these changes. This process goes as planned for most kids but not for all! An early consultation allows Dr. Romero to determine if orthodontic treatment is needed to help now or when it will be most beneficial to treat in the future. If no treatment is indicated yet, we will add you to our complimentary Smilestone Club!

SMILESTONE CLUB
Kids that are not ready for orthodontic treatment are recommended to have periodic orthodontic check-ups every 6-12 months
At these check-ups, Dr. Romero will evaluate jaw growth, facial development, loss of baby teeth, and eruption of permanent teeth
These appointments help us to optimize future timing of any necessary orthodontic treatment and guide you for any other dental needs that may arise
